Internal Control Audit

Internal auditing is an activity designed to add value and improve an organization’s operations. It helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
The COSO Report defines internal control as a process, affected by an entity’s board of directors, management, and other personnel, designed to provide reasonable assurance regarding the achievement of objectives in the following three categories:

SPM specializes in developing a system of internal controls and internal audits comprising methods and procedures to be adopted by our clients that will safeguard their assets, check the accuracy and reliability of their accounting data, promote operational efficiency, and encourage adherence to prescribed managerial policies for accounting and financial controls. We help build “hard controls” including segregation of duties, limiting access to cash, management review and approval, and reconciliations. Also help build “soft controls” for our clients, including control environment, performance evaluations, training programs, and maintaining established policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
We help Internal auditors of our clients to establish and maintain Enterprise Risk Management processes. Based on our analyses of the clients framework, we establish and communicate the scope and objectives for the audit to appropriate management. SPM develops an understanding of the business area under review by observing objectives, measurements, and key transaction types. We help describe the key risks facing the business activities within the scope of the audit and also identify control procedures used to ensure each key risk and transaction type is properly controlled and monitored. Then we develop and execute a risk-based sampling and testing approach to determine whether the most important controls are operating as intended. If we come across any issues, it is reported and action plans are discussed with management to address the problems.
SPM works hand in hand with the client to build up a framework to strengthen their organization towards unparallel growth.
